By executive order, early voting will be extended a day, due to polling places closed Thursday and Friday in response to Hurricane Dorian. The Beaufort County Board of Elections has resumed One Stop voting Saturday at the Board of Elections office for one day only. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Location is the office on Highland Drive in Washington. Satellite sites in Belhaven and Aurora are not open.
This special election is for the U.S. congressional seat held by Walter B. Jones Jr. for 24 years, until his death earlier this year.
Voting will also take place on Tuesday, Election Day, at all regular polling places.
