Power outages persist Saturday, crews dispatched to address issues

Tideland EMC

Power crews continue to fan out in the Tideland EMC coverage area, and as of Saturday morning, 10,166 customers in the region remained without power, with 6,320 already restored.

In Beaufort County, the number of members still out was down to 2,539. Hyde County numbers were the highest at 3,749 members without electricity. Crews began work at 5 a.m. Saturday.

Outages can be reported at 1-800-882-1001 (in Beaufort County call 252-944-2400) or via text message by sending OUT to short code 85700. A live outage map can be found at www.tidelandemc.com under the storm center tab.

Duke Energy

For Duke Energy, 1,818 customers were still without power on Saturday morning out of 4,765 customers in Beaufort County. Estimated time of restoration on the Duke Energy outage map indicated that power should be restored no later than 11 p.m. on Sunday.

Washington Electric Utilities

Though Washington Electric Utilities crews had begun the process of restoration, numbers on total outages and restoration times were unavailable as of Saturday morning. Washington Electric Utilities customers should call 252-975-9320 to report power outages. Someone is available in Washington to take your call, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
