A Pantego family that lost everything in a house fire after Hurricane Dorian is now set up with a GoFundMe account to help with the expenses of recovery.
The fundraiser will benefit Pantego resident Erica Morales and her seven children. The Morales family lost their home and possessions last Saturday when power was restored to their home, causing a power surge that sparked a fire in their kitchen.
None of the family was home at the time of the fire, as they had gone to the Ronald McDonald house in Durham to visit one Morales’ sons, who is at a hospital in Butner.
The GoFundMe page, entitled “Erica’s 8,” is being managed by Morales’ aunt, Sheryll Dodge, of Swan Quarter. Morales verified the page on Friday. The fundraiser can be accessed at www.gofundme.com/f/ericas-8, and all donations are welcome. The site also has a policy in place to ensure that money donated reaches the proper recipient.
Donations of clothes are also being accepted for the whole family at the Washington-Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce through the Bright Futures program. The following is a list of sizes for each family member in need:
