The Down East Rover, a schooner with home port in Manteo, crossed the bar at the mouth of Scuppernong River Sept. 3, seeking safe harbor from approaching Hurricane Dorian. She rode out the storm undamaged at YachtDoc at Cypress Cove Marina two miles below Columbia.
