Norwood Ellsworth Woolard

Norwood Ellsworth Woolard, of Blounts Creek, born Oct. 6, 1948, passed away Saturday Sept. 28, 2019.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019, at Elizabeth Chapel Church of Christ and will be officiated by Kent Gurganus. Burial will follow in Warren Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers include Daniel Woolard, Larry Rowe, Richie Gerard, Charles Smith, Jeffray Waters, Chance Waters, and Tim Waters.

Ellsworth was born to the late Leon Theodore Woolard and Mable Galloway Woolard. He married Doris Ann Kite on June 15, 1970, who survives. Surviving also is a son Nathan Woolard, of Blounts Creek; daughter Sandra Gerard (Richie Gerard), of Washington; a grandson, Daniel Woolard (Alex Woolard), of Chocowinity; a great-granddaughter, Avery Woolard; a great-grandson on the way; and a sister, Jeanette Wallace.

Ellsworth was a lifetime Lineman. He started in the Merchant Marines as a young man and then pursued his lineman career. He retired from formerly PCS, now Nutrien. Ellsworth was an avid truck driver. He owned his own business, and he was so passionate about trucking, family and life.

He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at Elizabeth Chapel Church of Christ.
