Bernice Brame Boyd

Mrs. Bernice Brame Boyd, age 87, a resident of 2109 N.C. Highway 33 East in Chocowinity, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019, at Ridgewood Manor in Washington.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019, at Pamlico Memorial Gardens. The service will be officiated by Dr. Robert Cayton. Visitation will be at the graveside following the service.

Mrs. Bernice was born in Beaufort County on May 30, 1932, and was the daughter of the late George Norman and Jesse Hill Brame. She married Alton Ray Boyd in 1952. She was a graduate of Chocowinity High School. She was employed with Chocowinity High School and then Beaufort County Hospital. Bernice spent many years caring for her sister, Carol, and was an active participant with the Saturday Night Jamboree. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chocowinity.

Survivors include her brother Carlton Brame (Lucy); sisters-in-law, Faye and Betty Brame. She is also survived by her dearest friend Francis (Frankie) Edwards; wonderful and caring neighbors, the Boahn family; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers Paul and Herman Brame; and her sister Carol Jean Brame.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Saturday Night Jamboree in care of Marlene Sprouse at 410 Northwood Road, Washington NC 27889.
