Mrs. Nancy Lee Howard Lewis, age 87, a resident of Washington, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019, at her home.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington, officiated by Rev. Jim Reed. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. James Casey, Justin Casey, Mike Lilley, Christopher Seighman, Kevin Respass and Nolan Williams will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory.
Mrs. Lewis was born in Lenoir County on Dec. 8, 1931, daughter of the late Emmet Clayton Howard and the late Lottie Susan Howard. She was a 1950 graduate of Deep Run High School. On Nov. 26, 1951, she married Hobson Sneed Lewis, who survives. As a military wife, she dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker who loved nature, birds, flowers and gardening. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
Surviving along with her husband Hobson, of the home, are two daughters, Debra Sue Williams and husband Nolan, of Kernersville, and Cynthia Jean Lilley and husband Mike, of Williamston; two grandchildren, Jennifer Marie Waters and husband Patrick, Brad Woolard and Christopher Lewis Seighman; and a special “son,” Kevin Respass. Mrs. Lewis was predeceased by a grandchild, Holly Denise Waters; two brothers, Ralph Howard and William James Howard; and six sisters, Ruth Harper, Alma Whealton, Thelma Waters, Helen Casey, Naomi Latham and Lottie Bell Lambert.
Flowers are welcome and appreciated and the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, 88 North Asbury Church Road, Washington, NC 27889.
