The Betsy Bailey Nelson Animal Control Facility will be closed Saturday, Nov. 30, in observance of Thanksgiving.

Those interested in adopting a pet should inquire at the Betsy Bailey Nelson Animal Control Facility, 3931 U.S. Highway 264 East, from 1 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturdays. Because of overcrowded conditions, the animals listed are only available as indicated.

All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To see more animals available for adoption, visit www.petango.com/beaufortcountyNC, visit ENC Shelter Dogs and ENC Shelter Cats on Facebook or call 252-946-4517 for more information. Requests for more information with regard to the animals appearing in Pets of the Week may be directed to shelter staff in person at the shelter during business hours or by emailing animal.control@co.beaufort.nc.us — always use the animal’s ID number.

Please note, the shelter is closed on the first Wednesday of each month for cleaning and maintenance.

Gizmo

This handsome, large, medium-hair American tabby boy is all decked out in a spectacular coat of light to dark gray stripes and cream accents. At 1 year old, Gizmo has a friendly and calm nature, and he will be a welcome addition in a variety of good forever, loving home settings. Once there, he will blossom into a wonderful pet and companion. For more about Gizmo, see Facebook’s Friends of Beaufort County Shelter Cats page, Gizmo, ID No. 1960. Visit and see for yourself what wonderful cat he is; he’s available at the shelter.

Farmer

Gorgeous, smart and friendly just begins to describe Farmer, a 3-year-old, male, tricolor – black, white and red, hound mix. He’s super sweet, loves people, and this big guy will do best with an active family/owner(s) willing to give him lots of exercise in a fenced area or on a leash, take him on their outings and give him their love and attention and, of course, a good forever home. For more about Farmer, see Facebook’s ENC Shelter Dog Page — Farmer, ID No. 1924. Come visit him, he’s available at the shelter.
