Mrs. Helen Marie Scott Sadler, age 82, a former resident of Stilley Town Road, Blounts Creek, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2019, at Riverpoint Crest Nursing Home in New Bern.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2019, at Edward Christian Church in Edward. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the church, conducted by Pastor David Linton. Burial will follow in the Lewis Family Cemetery, Stilley Town Road, Blounts Creek.

The following will serve as pallbearers: Robert Carpenter, Roger Vinson, Andy Dixon, Jeffrey Sawyer, Patrick Baker and Gene Williamson.

Mrs. Sadler was born in Washington on Jan. 5, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Mayhew Scott and Annie Thelma Lewis Scott. Mrs. Sadler worked as a seamstress at Samson Shirt Factory in Washington. Later, she worked as a teacher’s aide at Snowden Elementary School in Aurora. Mrs. Sadler was a very active member of Edward Christian Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, sewing and woodworking with her husband.

Mrs. Sadler was married to Kenneth Leroy “Bunk” Sadler, Sr., who preceded her in death, Feb. 7, 2010.

Mrs. Sadler is survived by her son, Kenneth Leroy “Ken” Sadler and his wife, Donna Marie Sadler, of Blounts Creek; daughter, Delores Sadler Williams and her husband, Steve, of Wilmington; three grandchildren, Kendall Sadler, of Blounts Creek, Shannon Carpenter and her husband, Robert, of Southern Pines, Suzanne Vinson and her husband, Roger, of Greenville; two great-grandchildren, Aubin Sadler, Rhett Vinson; and brother, Jerry Scott and his wife, Jane, of Atlantic, North Carolina.

In addition to her parents and her husband. Mrs. Sadler was preceded in death by a brother, Dalton Scott.
