Mr. Christopher “Chris” Harvey Parker Jr. of the Free Union Community, Pinetown, died peacefully Thursday, Dec.12, 2019 at SECU Hospice in Smithfield.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019 in the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and will be conducted by Craig Hagan. Burial will follow at Pamlico Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour and at son Toby and his wife Karen’s home at 118 Catnip Point, Bath after the burial.

Chris was born in Norfolk County, Virginia on Jan. 22, 1940 to the late Christopher Sr. and Alice Parker. He is the graduate of Deep Creek High School in Chesapeake, Virginia. He was proud to be a member of the Chesapeake Police Department where he rose to the rank of detective. He became the owner/operator of Hub’s Rec Restaurant outside Belhaven in 1974. It was a well-known and popular seafood restaurant until its destruction in a fire. For a period from 1978 to 1982, he owned/operated the historic Carolinian Hotel in Nags Head. Throughout he continued serving his well-known seafood until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife Doris Marie Parker of Beaufort County, three daughters Christy Brannock and her husband Dave of Chesapeake, and Darlene Richards and her husband Kevin of Yeatsville, Karen Vines Tetterton, and three sons Tony Tetterton and his wife Charlene of Selma, Terry Tetterton and his wife Leigh of Sneads Ferry, Toby Tetterton and his wife Karen of Bath, one brother David Parker of Chesapeake, twenty four grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was predeceased by his parents and sister Katherine, a daughter Vanessa Dale Wagoner, and a son J.D. He was loved by all and will be remembered for his kind, generous and caring manner.
