Scott L. Beasley

Mr. Scott Levern Beasley, age 89, a resident of Washington, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2019 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington.

Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019 at First Baptist Church, Washington, conducted by Dr. Greg Barmer. Burial with military honors will follow at Oakdale Cemetery.

Mr. Beasley was born in Hoke County. He was the son of Walter and Lessie Beasley. Mr. Beasley graduated from 71st High School in 1953. He served in the National Guard and Army for eight years. Mr. Beasley graduated from the Wildlife Enforcement School in Chapel Hill in 1960. He worked 30 years as  N.C. Wildlife Enforcement Officer. Mr. Beasley was a member of the First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. In his spare time, enjoyed fishing and woodworking.

On July 5, 1955, Mr. Beasley married the former Minerva Matthews, who survives. Surviving with his wife are two sons, Howard K. Beasley and wife Vickie of Williamsburg, Virginia, Terry L. Beasley and wife, Sonya of Chocowinity; daughter, Sandra B. Atkins and husband, William K. Atkins, Jr. of Durham; grandson, William Atkins III and fiancé, Kadey Fisher; great granddaughter, Aniston Atkins; and step grandchild, Ethan Wayne Ayers.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Beasley was preceded in death by daughter, Angela Beasley; grandson, Christopher Neil Beasley; four brothers, Howard, Walter, C.W. and Charles Beasley; two sisters, Sarah Sparks and Erma Johnson and step grandson, Joshua Blaine Ayers.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019 at the First Baptist Church and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made the North Carolina Wildlife Endowment Fund at www.ncwildlife.org.
