From Pocosin School of Fine Craft
Start the new year off by learning a new skill. Starting the second week of January, Pocosin Arts will offer new adult and youth community craft classes. Adult offerings include introduction to metalsmithing, introduction to ceramics, painting open studio, cutting boards and hand-looming. Each class meets once a week for six consecutive weeks and includes instruction and materials. No prior experience is necessary.
Also beginning the second week of January, Pocosin Arts will offer two Art After School programs to age groups 6 to 9 and 10 t0 18. Middle and High Schoolers will join resident artist Zachery Lechtenbery to learn how to use basic 3-D design software. Unique designs will be brought to life using the laser cutter or 3-d printer. Elementary school age students will learn about geometric shapes with resident artist TaeHyun Bang. Two- dimensional and three-dimensional objects will be made by solving geometric puzzles. Both classes meet every Tuesday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. for six weeks.
Scholarships are available to local students for both adult and youth classes. Please call 252-796-2787 to inquire about scholarships.
