Ann Tyson Coward Woolard

Mrs. Ann Tyson Coward Woolard, 83, of Vanceboro, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020.

A funeral will be held 1 a.m. Thursday in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel in Greenville. Burial will follow at Pinewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.

Ann was born and raised in the Calico area of Pitt County. She was a wonderful cook, enjoyed flowers and was a loving mother and grandmother. She was especially proud and loved her great-granddaughters, Emma and Karis.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, William Whitfield Coward and Leonard Woolard; and brothers, Junior Tyson and Jimmy Tyson.

She is survived by daughters, Muriel Haddock, Judy Woolard and husband Joe, and Jokay Smith and husband Dennis; son, William “Pete” Coward; grandsons, Drew Smith and Will Smith and wife Kari; great-granddaughters, Emma and Karis Smith; and brothers, Jessie Tyson and wife Donna, and Burnice Tyson; along with several nieces and nephews.
