Ann Bowen Ward

Ann Bowen Ward, 83, of Washington, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020, following a brief illness.

She was born on March 7, 1936, to Philip and Elizabeth Bowen of Long Acre. Ann was the younger sister of Elsie “Hunter” Boyd of Pinetown, who survives.

Ann was married to Judge Hallett Sydney Ward Jr. and mother to son Hallett Sydney Ward III, who survives. She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Ward.

Ann is also survived by her grandsons, Hallett Sydney Ward IV and Philip Jamal Ward, of Greensboro, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Washington, officiated by Priest Jim Horton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The All Souls Memorial Fund at St. Peter’s Church at 101 N. Bonner St., Washington.

The family would especially like to thank two wonderful caregivers, Monique German and Verniece Hawkins, for their compassionate and tireless care for Ann during her last years.

Washington Funeral and Cremation is handling the arrangements for the Ward family.
