Robert “Robbie” Latham Rouse

Mr. Robert “Robbie” Latham Rouse, age 58, a resident of 177 Hassell Ave., Washington, died unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at the First Christian Church in Belhaven, officiated by Craig Hagen and Mark Lilley. Burial will follow in Belhaven Community Cemetery. Christopher Rouse, Gregory Rouse, Timmy Copeland, R.A. Phillips, Rhys Alligood and T.W. Allen will serve as pallbearers. Richard Noble, Bonner Allen, Chris Mayberry, Tom Richardson and Ernie Radcliffe will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and other times at the home.

Robbie was born in Beaufort County on March 25, 1961, son of the late Doane Alexander Rouse and Cornelia Ann Latham Rouse. He graduated from Washington High School in 1979 and attended Beaufort County Community College. Robbie was employed with Tideland Electric as Director of Warehouse/Fleet Right of Way. On July 20, 1997, he married the former Jane Leigh Edwards who survives.

Robbie was very active in his community and church. He was a member of the Pantego Ruritan Club, Pantego Volunteer Fire Department, served on the Relay for Life Planning Committee and was selected Belhaven Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year. Robbie was a youth group leader with First Christian Church of Belhaven and was actively involved in the youth program for 18 years at First Church of Christ. He supported his children and grandchildren in all their activities and drove the activity bus for many events. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in the yard. Robbie always had a genuine smile and a kind word for everyone.

Robbie is survived by his wife, Jane, of the home; his children, Christopher Rouse and wife Kelly, of Pantego, Gregory Rouse and wife Jessica, of Bath, MacKenzie and Lauren Rouse, both of the home; his grandchildren, Luke, Julia, Ryan, Taylor and Alexia; his sister, Linda Sharp, of Southern Shores; his sister-in-law, Cherry Rouse; special nephews and nieces, Bradley Rouse and wife Rachel, Kathleen Shepherd and husband Richard and Sarah Sharp; great-nephews and -nieces, Annabelle Rouse, Emma Rouse and James Shepherd. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Randy Rouse, and special family members, E.H. and Cora Bishop.
