The Flair building on U.S. Hwy 64 East in Columbia, owned by Tyrrell County, is being torn down after more than 50 years’ use. The building’s construction was financed with investments from local residents whose aim was to provide more jobs in the county. Flair Manufacturing Co. Inc., later dissolved, was organized in 1968. Company employees cut cloth according to patterns and sewed the pieces into women’s wearing apparel.
