From the Town of Belhaven
Effective at 5 p.m. Monday, the Town of Belhaven and the State of North Carolina are under the Governor’s Executive Order 121.
Residents should stay at home unless moving about for essential activities. Essential activities are defined as those for health and safety, for necessary supplies and services, for outdoor activity, for certain types of work, to take care of others, to travel to and from a place of worship, to receive goods and services and volunteering.
Social distancing should still be practiced. This means keeping a distance of six feet from other individuals when you do have to go out. Gatherings of more than 10 people are now prohibited.
In addition to the Governor’s orders, the Belhaven’s water and sewer department wants to remind you that Clorox wipe and handi-wipes are not flushable.
The Town of Belhaven will continue day-to-day operations. However, Town Hall is closed to the public. You may conduct business with the town by telephone or using the drop box.
The Charlie Smith Community Center and Park, as well as the playground at the ball fields, was closed as of 5 p.m. Monday.
