The leadership of the Southern Albemarle Association has postponed the April 16 quarterly meeting set for the Vernon James Center at Plymouth. Angie Sexton, Tyrrell vice president, announced to local delegates Mar. 25.

The six-county transportation boosting organization, started in 1935, comprises delegates from Beaufort, Dare, Hyde, Martin, Tyrrell and Washington counties.

The gatherings are usually attended by 40-60 delegates and feature a state transportation official reporting on highway, ferry, airport, or bikeway/walkway projects in the association’s counties.

“Following the advice of public health officials, we have made the decision to postpone the quarterly meeting of the Southern Albemarle Association scheduled to take place on April 16, 2020 at the Vernon James Center,” wrote Judi Lannon of Aurora, association secretary. “We will attempt to reschedule the meeting as soon as possible.”
