Mrs. Joyce Gibbs Williams, age 88, a former resident of Belhaven, died Thursday, April 2, 2020, at River Trace Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Washington.

Mrs. Williams was born in Beaufort County on Aug. 28, 1931, to the late Floyd Earl Gibbs Sr. and Reggie Louise Bowden Gibbs. She was a graduate of John A. Wilkinson High School. On Dec. 22, 1951, she married Reubin Junious Williams Sr., who preceded her in death March 11, 2002.

Survivors include three children, Reubin J. “Buddy” Williams Jr. and wife Tammy, of Pinetown, Diane W. Sawyer and husband Sherwood, of Greenville, Debbie W. Daniels and husband Garland, of Washington; seven grandchildren, Josh Williams, Parker Williams, Tucker Williams, Michael Sawyer, Keith Sawyer, Julie Leigh Woolard, Jill Hodges Johnson; eight great-grandchildren, Jacob Sawyer, Hunter Sawyer, Kaylin Sawyer, Kaleb Sawyer, Zachary Sawyer, Hanna Sawyer, Nick Griekspoor and Ashley Corbitt.

She is preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin Grey Gibbs, Sr. and Floyd Earl Gibbs.
