Mrs. Cathern “Cat” Ruth Harding passed away on Friday, March 27, 2020, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. She was born on Jan. 5, 1949, to parents Gladys Chandler Clark, and Richard “Mutt” Guy Clark.

Cat graduated from Chocowinity High School in 1968. She was once a military wife who travelled the world, living in many places including Germany, Hawaii and Okinawa, Japan, among others.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Daryl Clark; and ex-husband, Billy Clyde Bland. She is survived by her daughter, Connie Bland Langley; son Billy Clyde Bland Jr.; grandchildren, Jaden Leigh Ann Langley, Charlotte Grace Sikes, Billy Clyde Bland III, Hannah Nicole Bland and Dylan Lee Bland; and various nieces and nephews.

Cat worked for several different companies, including as a supply clerk for National Spinning Company for 17 years, Smithfield Packing for over a decade, as a clerk for Pirates Loot for four years, and as an assistant manager at the Econo Lodge for around a decade. She was a beloved member of Grimesland Free Will Baptist Church. Cat was a wonderful woman, who loved to travel, and she touched the hearts of those around her wherever she went. However, her home will always be 320 N. Charlotte St., Washington.

A memorial service was held Friday, April 3, 2020, at her home. A Celebration of her Life will be held after the pandemic passes.

Whether it was a holiday, or just a regular day, the house was always full of cooked food, family, friends and love. She will be missed by many, and a large celebration of her life will be held as soon as it is able. Even if she is not here with us, she will be in our hearts forever.
