Mr. Bryan Edward “Ted” Burbage, age 93, a resident of the Sidney community, Belhaven, died Monday, June 1, 2020, at MacGregor Down Nursing Center in Greenville.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2020, at Yeatesville Cemetery, U.S. Highway 264 East, Pinetown, conducted by Rev. David Pooser.
Mr. Burbage was born in Bath on Oct. 7, 1926. He was the son of the late Robert Monroe Burbage and Mary Elizabeth Styles Burbage. Mr. Burbage served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired small engine mechanic with Cuthrell’s in Norfolk, Virginia. Mr. Burbage moved here from Virginia in 1985. He attended Sidney Free Will Baptist Church. In his spare time, Mr. Burbage loved to fish and work on his neighbor’s lawn mowers and bicycles.
On May 21, 1945, Mr. Burbage married the former Margie Lee Everett, who preceded him in death, April 13, 2016.
Mr. Burbage is survived by three daughters, Mary McClenny and husband Shepherd, of Chesapeake, Virginia, Rita Turner and husband Chuck, of Norfolk, Virginia, Shelley Crook and husband Bill, of Chesapeake; sister, Ann Williams, of Chesapeake; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home following the service.
