Saturday afternoon, boats from Bath to Belhaven, Chocowinity to Washington, poured onto the Pamlico River for a boat rally in support of President Donald Trump.
Trump rallies on the water have been trending on waterways across the nation, some with boats numbering in the thousands — including one also held Saturday on Bogue Inlet, at which the Coast Guard estimated between 1,500 and 2,000 boats were on the water.
In Beaufort County, boats began lining up near Chocowinity Bay in the afternoon and at 4 p.m., the parade of boats bearing predominantly American flags and Trump 2020 flags, interspersed with some mason flags and Confederate flags, made its way to the Washington waterfront and back again. Along the waterfront, a crowd of supporters and bystanders gathered to watch the festivities.
According to witnesses, nearly 500 boats, some jet skis and even a kayak or two, took part in the parade.
