Randy L. Bridgman passed away at home in New Bern on Wednesday, June 10, 2020, after a lengthy battle with brain cancer.

He was born on Nov. 29, 1960, to parents Cecil and Elaine Bridgman. His mother is from Newfoundland, Canada, and his father from Washington, North Carolina. After serving in the Air Force, the family moved back to Washington where Randy grew up, graduating from Washington High School and ECU.

Randy was a wonderful husband, father, son and friend. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Susan Hassell Bridgman, a native of Washington, a proud dad to Air Force 1st Lt. Bennett Bridgman, stationed at Davis Monthan AFB in Tucson, Arizona, and his beloved daughter, Clara Bridgman, of New Bern and a recent N.C. State graduate; his mother, Marion Elaine Bridgman, of New Bern; special friend, Stanton Harrell; in-laws, Linda and Malcom “Bud” Hassell, of Washington. He is the nephew of Billy and Velma Bridgman Waters, of Washington; Steve and Anna Bridgman, of Greenville; and James and Doris Bridgman, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Randy has many aunts, uncles and cousins in Canada, North Carolina and Pennsylvania and many dear friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Cecil E. Bridgman.

Prior to his retirement, he was a sharp sales person for U.S Foods for approximately 25 years. He was an avid golfer, runner and a USTPA certified Tennis Pro, who provided coaching to many students. As his illness progressed, he loved walking and playing with his labradoodle, Mako. He loved spending time with his family, and he was a man of many friends.
