Tyrrell County deputies on July 11 stopped Shawn Billups, 42, of Greenville for a traffic violation, Sheriff Kevin Sawyer reports.

A search of the vehicle located a handgun, a black ski mask with black clothing, a large sum of money, cocaine and Xanax.

Billups was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, felony possession of schedule II controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of a schedule IV controlled substance and driving while impaired.

Billups was released on a $6,000 unsecured bond.
