The Tyrrell County Inspections Department issued 206 building permits in 2019-20 compared with 122 in 2018-19, Building Inspector Joie Spencer reported recently to the county commissioners.
Departmental revenues were $17,637 last year and $18,661 in 2018-19, owing mainly to $1,000 less received in subdivision fees last year.
Building construction permits totaled 10 last year versus 14 in 2018-19. The big change came in fewer mobile homes being sited.
The increased activity for the inspector was in additions to exsiting structures. There were 61 permits issued last year compared with 39 the year before.
Other permits — electrical, mechanical, repair, plumbing, and demolition — were almost identical in number for both years.
