The Tyrrell County Genealogical and Historical Society is planning to publish articles about graduations held at Columbia High School in 1950, 60, 70, 80, 90, 2000, and 2010, and at Tyrrell County High School in 1950 and 1960. (TCHS graduated its last class in 1968 when Tyrrell schools were desegregated.)
The Society has an article on the CHS Class of 1950, written by Dr. Joyce Bateman Giglioni, salutatorian of that class.
Now the Society is inviting members of the other classes mentioned above to research and write articles about their graduation. Needed are such things as a list of class members’ names, faculty, mascots, guest speaker, theme of the event, special activities, date, etc. — a general description of the graduation night itself.
If you’re interested in recording your graduation event so in permanent form that future generations can consult easily, or if you want more information about how to get involved, contact the Society at tyrrellcogenealogy@gmail.com.
