Remnants of Sally bring heavy rain, maybe tornadoes
The remnants of Hurricane Sally, which unleashed torrential rainfall over southern Alabama and the Florida panhandle, are heading into eastern North Carolina.
Beaufort County can expect to see 2 to 3 inches of rain Thursday into Friday, along with a chance of severe thunderstorms and isolated tornadoes, according to the latest update from the National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City.
Low-lying and areas prone to flooding are at risk for flooding. Those heading to the coast this weekend: rip currents and huge surf pose a real threat.
