Dirk Stancill Dixon Sr., MD, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020, at his home in Washington, with his family by his side. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones and the multitude of friends and family whose lives he touched with his care, generosity and wonderful sense of humor.

He is survived by his devoted wife of over 50 years, Susan Tavenner Dixon, and his beloved children, Debi Dixon Beasley (Bob), Dirk Dixon Jr. (Deanna), Gina Dixon James (Mark), Christian Tavenner Dixon and Catherine Helen Dixon; as well as seven grandchildren, Jami, Georgia, Mary Brooke, Anne, Jenna, Julia and Mark Jr.; five great-grandchildren, Briar, Brinley, Robert, Zayn and Josie; dear nieces, Brenda Hardy, Laura Davis, Mary Tom Hink and Julie Kucas; and several special cousins.

A celebration of Dirk’s life — one that he would be proud to host! — will take place when it is safe to gather.
