Beaufort County recorded 46 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, the county’s second-highest daily case count ever, and also recorded its 54th COVID-19-related death.
The county now has 213 active COVID-19 cases. All of those individuals are self-isolating, according to a release from Beaufort County Emergency Services and Beaufort County Health Department.
The county also reported that 15 more individuals had recovered from the virus, bringing its total amount of recoveries to 1,521. Nine people in the county are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, and one is on a ventilator.
Beaufort County Health Department Director Jim Madson said last week that the county’s daily case count was starting to follow the upward trend of the state’s metrics. North Carolina reported 4,199 new COVID-19 cases and 82 coronavirus-related deaths on Wednesday.
