Mr. James Daniel Andrew, age 96, a resident of 102 Wellington Drive Washington, died Friday morning, December 18, 2020 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Andrew was born in Michigan, son of the late George Clare Andrew and Hazel Bernice Mead Andrew. He married Elizabeth Ann Knori Andrew who preceded him in death and later married Elizabeth Rose Collins Andrew.  Mr. Andrew attended DeVry Institute in Chicago, Illinois and was manager of various resort hotels.  He served his country in the Navy during World War II.  Mr. Andrew moved to Beaufort County 18 years ago.  He was past Commander of the VFW and a member of the Kiwanis in Sedona, Arizona.  Mr. Andrew was past Adjutant of the VFW, volunteered with Meals on Wheels, the American Red Cross transportation for seniors and veterans, and Literacy Organizations, a member of the Washington Chapter of the DAV and even built a couple of boats.

Mr. Andrew is survived by his wife, Rose Andrew of the home; his daughter: Susan Cortright (Bill) of Albuquerque, NM, his sister: Jane Major of Vassar, MI, his grandchildren: Stacy Scott Cortright of Flagstaff, AZ and Logan and Carlin Andrew both of Greensboro, NC and his great grandchildren: Zoe and Sidney Cortright of Flagstaff, AZ.

In addition to his first wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his son: David Andrew; and his brother: Ret. Col. US Army Donald Andrew.
