Vance Thomas Smith, age 87, a resident of Washington, NC, died Sunday December 27, 2020 at his home.

A graveside service was held at 2:00 PM Tuesday December 29, 2020 at Oakdale Cemetery and was officiated by Dr. Greg Barmer. Honorary pallbearers included the Timberlake Baraca Sunday School Class and Tranters Creek Herring Club.

Mr. Smith was born in Alamance County on June 21, 1933 to the late George Henry Smith and Claude May Smith. On February 28, 2009 he married Barbara Tricker. He was a member and past president of the Timberlake Baraca Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church, the Tranters Creek Herring Club, a past Mason, a past member of the Scottish Right And he attended the University of Arizona while stationed there in the Air Force. Mr. Smith Enjoyed cooking especially for the organizations he was a part of. Cooking was his way to give back to the community.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Tricker Smith and sister-in-law, Pearl Smith.

He is preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
