Beaufort County’s daily COVID-19 case count eclipses century mark

Beaufort County’s daily count of new COVID-19 cases eclipsed the century mark Saturday.

Beaufort County Office of Emergency Services and Beaufort County Health Department recorded a record-high 112 new cases of COVID-19 Saturday, raising the county’s amount of known active cases to 613. The county also recorded 25 new recoveries from COVID-19. Beaufort County’s total confirmed case count is now 2,809, total recoveries are 2,134 and total deaths are 62.

Eighteen Beaufort County residents are hospitalized with COVID-19. Of those 18 individuals, two are on ventilators. All other active cases are self-isolating.

North Carolina reported 9,365 new cases of COVID-19 and 144 COVID-19-related deaths Saturday.

Eastern North Carolina counties with total confirmed cases include: Bertie, (1,240), Beaufort (2,809), Bladen (1,924), Brunswick (4,580), Carteret (2,807), Camden (301), Chowan (846), Columbus (3,775), Craven (5,297), Currituck (673), Dare (1,083), Duplin (4,336), Edgecombe (3,283), Gates (367), Greene (1,561), Halifax (3,010), Hertford (1,410),  Hyde (358), Jones (427), Lenoir (3,379), Martin (1,422), New Hanover (9,860), Northampton (1,096), Onslow (9,191), Pamlico (543), Pasquotank (1,867), Pender  (2,889), Perquimans (568), Pitt (11,902) Sampson (5,035), Tyrrell (177), Washington  (501), Wayne (7,586) and Wilson (5,656). Mecklenburg (64,442), Wake (44,954), Guilford (25,445), Forsyth (21,208), Gaston (16,093) and Durham (15,184) counties have the most cases.
