Mr. William (Bill) Ralph Porter, 82, of Washington, NC was born in Dover, FL, Hillsboro County, FL. He was the oldest of 8 brothers and sisters. Four sisters living are Alice Jenkins, Elizabeth Jones, Sandra Porter, and Ann Porter. Deceased siblings are Barbara Baxter, Jack Porter, Jim Porter, and Randy Porter.

Sergeant Porter retired from the Army. He earned the Bronze Star, the Army Commendation Medal, among others. He had two tours in Germany, one tour in Korea, and one in Vietnam.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth L. Porter and 10 children. Susan Wentzel and husband John, Billy Porter and wife Cristy, Linda Marino and husband Sam, of Florida. Christine Sylvestry of Georgia, Amy Lloyd and husband Steve of Madison, WI, Elizabeth Franz and husband Hans of

Germany, Paul Schroeder and wife Linda of North Carolina, and Dave Schroeder and wife Denise of Ohio. Two deceased children, Rebecca Perez of WV and Sara Higgins of Ohio. He has 27 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

He is a member of Washington Assembly of God in Washington, NC

He loves to travel, read and watch Alabama football.
