Beaufort County records 70th COVID-19-related death

Beaufort County reported its 70th COVID-19-related death Saturday, as well as 35 new cases of COVID-19.
The county’s total case count is now 3,496. County health officials know of 687 active cases among county residents, and 21 of those individuals are hospitalized. Saturday’s update showed that 111 more county residents had recovered from the virus, raising the total amount of recoveries to 2,739.
North Carolina reported 7,986 new cases and 83 COVID-19-related deaths Saturday.
Eastern North Carolina counties with total confirmed cases include: Bertie (1,413), Beaufort (3,461), Bladen (2,285), Brunswick (5,624), Carteret (3,352), Camden (410), Chowan (1,022), Columbus (4,517), Craven (6,388), Currituck (905), Dare (1,439), Duplin (4,870), Edgecombe (3,689), Gates (461), Greene (1,752), Halifax (3,754), Hertford (1,618), Hyde (553), Jones (506), Lenoir (4,136), Martin (1,692), New Hanover (11,298), Northampton (1,325), Onslow (11,178), Pamlico (654), Pasquotank (2,356), Pender (3,488), Perquimans (684), Pitt (13,814) Sampson (5,695), Tyrrell (215) Washington (636), Wayne (8,404) and Wilson (6,754). Mecklenburg (76,167), Wake (56,241), Guilford (30,594), Forsyth (24,699), Gaston (19,264) and Durham (17,438) counties have the most cases.
