We asked area athletes five questions so you can get to know them a little better. Today’s guest is Washington High School senior football player Joe’l Gardner.

1. Who is your favorite fictional character?

Joe’l: The Black Power Ranger. I loved watching the Power Rangers when I was a kid and he was my favorite.

2. How would you spend a million dollars?

Joe’l: I would buy a nice house for my family and invest the rest, so it will continue to grow.

3. Name three people, living or dead, who you would like to have a meal with?

Joe’l: My uncle who passed, my nana who passed and my mom.

4. Of all your coaches so far, who has influenced you the most?

Joe’l: My current football coach, Perry Owens. He has taken the time to work with me so I can improve, and he doesn’t care about my height. He has given me the chance to prove that I can help us win.

5. Who are you rooting for in the Super Bowl?

Joe’l: The Kansas City Chiefs, because Tom Brady and the Bucs eliminated my team, the Saints, earlier in the playoffs.
