From Pamlico Sail & Power Squadron

The Pamlico Sail & Power Squadron (PSPS) held its Annual Meeting and Change of Watch on Thursday, April 15, in a virtual format.  The Change of Watch is an annual event in which officers are elected to begin the new Watch Year.  This year’s event also marked the restart of the PSPS volunteer organization after its operations were paused due to COVID-19.

PSPS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing superior boating safety and education, civic service and fellowship.  PSPS is a unit of the United States Power Squadron known as America’s Boating Club.

PSPS was joined by District Secretary, Lt. Cmdr. Connie Shay who presided over the Change of Watch and installation of the new Bridge Officers.

The new Bridge consists of: Cmdr. Karen Graham; Executive Officer Walt Morrissey; Education Officer Catherine Karlovich, JN; Administrative Officer Louise Bonadies; Secretary Marisa Morrissey; and Treasurer Carl Erickson.  Assistants to the Bridge Officers include:  Assistant Administrative Officer (boating) Tadd Herron; Assistant Administrative Officer (Social) Lorne Hope; Assistant Educational Officer Mike Karlovich; Assistant Treasurer Andrew Vogel, and Assistant Secretary Edith Hope.

Members are excited to return to PSPS’ boating missions.  The organization is scheduling a range of boating courses that will help develop skills for all boaters.  There are several key civic service events that PSPS is currently in the midst of planning which will support the local recreational boating community. Watch for more opportunities to participate in boating safety events and educational programs as those efforts begin.
