John “Johnny” Allen Moore, Sr., age 63, a resident of Washington, NC died Tuesday April 27, 2021.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington and will be officiated by Travis Boyd.
Johnny was born in Beaufort County on March 25, 1958 to Tillie Carolyn Wallace Moore and the late Duncan McCray Moore. He was a 1976 graduate of Washington High School. On June 23, 2002, he married Kathy Lee Harrell. He was the owner, operator, and president of Taylor Oil Company until his retirement. Johnny was a member of the Orr Lodge 104 AF & AM Masonic Lodge, being named Master of the Lodge in 1990 and 2013. He was a member of Wanoca Presbyterian Church and former member and president of the Eastern Antique Power Association. Johnny enjoyed boating on the Pamlico and was an antique tractor and car enthusiast. After his family, Johnny’s cars and tractors were his most prized possessions.
Survivors include his wife Kathy H. Moore of the home; their children, Brandon Moore, Jonathan Moore and wife Amber, James Moore and fiancée Chelsea, John Allen Moore, Jr. all of Washington, Allysen Berry and Rudy Toler of Grimesland, Nicole Woolard and husband Bryan, Caroline Forest, Olivia Forest all of Washington; his mother, Tillie W. Moore of Washington; a sister, Debbie Moore of Washington and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery and other times at his mother’s home, 5623 Clarks Neck Road, Washington.
