COVID spread causes temporary school closures; here’s what to know

Beaufort County Schools will be closed for students on Friday, Jan. 14, and Tuesday, Jan. 18, while the school system works to address staff shortages caused by COVID-19 protocols. Sixty-two of the district’s staff members were quarantined as Wednesday night, with 12 positive cases of COVID-19 among them.

School will resume for all students on Wednesday, Jan. 19. BCS staff will have optional workdays on Jan. 14 and 18.

SCHOOL NUTRITION

The BCS Child Nutrition will offer curbside meal pickup opportunities during the closure. The pickup locations are: Eastern Elementary School; Bath Elementary School; Chocowinity Primary School; John Cotten Tayloe Elementary School; John Small Elementary School; Northeast Elementary School; and S.W. Snowden Elementary School. On Friday, Jan. 14, breakfast and lunch will be available for pickup. On Tuesday, Jan. 18, lunch will be available for pickup. The time frame for picking up food is 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
