Mr. James Linwood Lupton, Sr., age 91, a resident of Washington, NC died Tuesday January 18, 2022 at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Center in Washington.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday January 24, 2022 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington, officiated by Pastor Gillian Pollock.  Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.  The family kindly asks that masks and social distancing be observed during the service.

The family will receive friends 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory.

Mr. Lupton was born in Craven County on November 5, 1930, son of the late Garland Edward Lupton and the late Ethel Coward Lupton.  He was a graduate of Washington High School.  His large stature made him an excellent football player, and was known as “YoYo” in high school.  On September 2, 1951 he married the former Colleen Eunice Moore who survives.  Mr. Lupton served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  His working career consisted of working at National Spinning where he was a department head, a real estate agent and at the time of his retirement he was a real estate appraiser for Beaufort County.  His co-workers affectionately called him “Big Daddy”.  Mr. Lupton was a member of the Down East Senior’s Club, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Disabled American Veterans, Washington Chapter, and First Christian Church of Washington.

Surviving along with Mr. Lupton’s love and wife: Colleen of the home; sons: James L. “Jimmy” Lupton (Carolyn) of Roanoke Rapids and David G. Lupton (Krista) of Washington; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
