Mary Equils Midyette, 89, of Engelhard, died Monday, March 21, 2022, at her daughter’s residence in Engelhard.
Mary was born in Carteret County, on November 19, 1932, to the late George and Ada Huff Equils. She was married to Eugene Midyette who preceded her in death.
She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Washington, NC.
She worked for the forestry service and as a dental assistant for many years, but her most rewarding role was volunteering at the former Beaufort County Hospital where she spent time bringing a smile to others.
A service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 25, 2022, at Sladesville Missionary Baptist Church. Kathy Ballance will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are two daughters, Cynthia Gibbs (Michael) of Engelhard and Christine Partrick of Asheville; three grandchildren, Michael Meekins (Taren), Sarah Stucker (Christoph), Mary Partrick; one step grandson Michael Allen Gibbs (Lesley); five great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Terry Equils and Roy Equils, a sister Margaret Berlando; and many half brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
