Mrs. Martha Lou Darlington Seighman, affectionately known as “Bubbles the Clown”, age 79, a resident of North Reed Drive, Smallwood, died Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

Services will be held later.

Mrs. Seighman was born in Lamarque, Texas on June 22, 1942. She was the daughter of the late William Darlington and Helen Marie Darlington. After moving to Washington in 1984, Mrs. Seighman began her career as “Bubbles the Clown”. She participated in the Saturday Night Jamboree and was a member of the “Women of Whimsey” (W.O.W.) Chapter of the Red Hat Society.

Mrs. Seighman was married to Gerald John Seighman, who survives.

Surviving with her husband are three sons, Gerald J. Seighman, Jr. of Washington, Thomas Seighman (Michelle) of Rocky Mount, N.C., Charles Seighman (Leigh) of Albemarle, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Karen Seighman, Stephanie Seighman, Sarah Seighman, Christopher Seighman, Cortney Seighman, Casey Seighman, Bailey Seighman; two great grandchildren, Taylor Ann Seighman, Lucas Albertson and two brothers, William Darlington, Jr., James “Jimmy” Darlington.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Seighman was preceded in death by a brother, John Darlington and sister, Helen Darlington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
