Carroll Dalton “CD” Gibbs
March 31, 1932 – April 27, 2022
Carroll Dalton “CD” Gibbs, 90, of Swan Quarter, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at River Trace in Washington, NC.
CD Gibbs was born March 31, 1932, in Hyde County to the late Carroll Oeland and Lyda Bridgman Gibbs. He was married to the former Sondra Michael Hinnant on June 4, 1997, who preceded him in death on April 22, 2022.
CD spent his working years as a farmer and fisherman, as well as a taxidermist, and was also a former part-time instructor in taxidermy at Beaufort County Community College. He was a member of the Hyde County Historical Society and a member of the former Rose Bay Baptist Church where he served as secretary, treasurer, and a deacon. Most recently he attended Sladesville Missionary Baptist Church.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Soule Cemetery with Pastor Phil Deitz officiating.
Surviving are three cousins, Rose Cahoon Faucette, Reginald L. Cahoon, and Jim Cahoon.
The family wants to give appreciation to special friends and family caregivers, Roy and Shelly Spencer and R.S. Spencer, Jr.
Thanks and appreciation for the care given to CD by the staff at River Trace Nursing & Rehab Center and to the Beaufort County Vidant Hospital Emergency Room Medical staff.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Gibbs Carawan, and a nephew, Phillip W. Sherman.
