The Richland Seniors met May 3 with 17 members present.
President Annette Kelly opened the meeting with the Pledge Of
Allegiance, Helen Sommerkamp gave the devotion and led in the Lord’s Prayer.
Secretary Lib Litchfield call the roll, read the minutes and gave the treasurer’s report.
Jonell Barber gave the card report and read a few funnies to the members.
Alice Briley commented on the day trip scheduled for June 7 to the New Bern History Museum /Gardens. We will leave Aurora at 10 a.m.
Our speaker for the day was Southern Bank manager Jeffry Robinson, who gave us some valuable information on scams that are out there. He explained how they con folks into giving them money, especially seniors. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Robinson cautioned the group to be very careful when answering the phone. Better still, he said, don’t answer if you don’t know who’s calling and never give any personal information.
To anyone, if a caller should ask is this (name) never say yes, it’s a scam, according to Robinson. Our members had lots of questions and commented on their own personal calls that were scams. The group commented on how much this information meant to them, thank you Jeffry Robinson for coming and sharing this valuable information. President Kelly adjourned the meeting.
Hellen Sommerkamp blessed the food and Robinson joined us for lunch.
