Durwood Allen Deal, 84, of Washington, died, Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Durwood was born in Hyde County on July 23, 1937, to the late Earl and Ruby Gibbs Deal. He was married to the former Helga Schickler who preceded him in death and later married the former Emma Spencer who also preceded him in death.
He served in the United States Army where he honorably served his country. Following his service time, he worked for thirty-nine years with Gregory Poole Equipment Company as an equipment mechanic and later in the parts and delivery department.
He loved to hunt, and fish and loved to take drives, and was known for his ongoing projects. At times his set ways could lead to his stubbornness and strong opinions, but this did not take away from his kindness and generosity especially when it came to his family.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at the family plot in the Radcliff Family Cemetery. Pastor Mike Wheeler will officiate.
Surviving are three sons; Brian Deal (Cathy) of Blounts Creek, Andy Deal of Washington, and Michael Deal (Michelle) of Tucson, AZ; a daughter Rebecca Miller (Jim) of California; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Deal of Washington and a sister; Lois Cahoon of Swan Quarter.
In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna E. Equils and Ann Nixon.
The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service.
Arrangements are by Bryan Funeral Service, Swan Quarter.
