Southside opened the Coastal Plains 1A conference season with a 22-8 victory at Pamlico County in the Fossil Bowl rivalry game, thanks in large part to senior Darren (DJ) Joyner, while Northside and Washington suffered road defeats. Pungo Christian had the week off.

  1. Darren (DJ) Joyner: The senior running back scored all three touchdowns in the Seahawks 22-8 win at Pamlico County. Joyner scored on runs of 10 and 12 yards and hauled in a 48-yard touchdown pass from Walker Hill to account for all the touchdown as the Seahawks (4-2) reclaimed the Fossil Bowl over the Hurricanes.
