While the event offers “free admission”, collected donations will help support the Eagles Wings Food Pantry whose mission is to help alleviate hunger in Beaufort County. The festival is named in memory of Don Skinner, a founding member of BCTMA and an outstanding guitarist.
Since 2014, Guitarfest has been a very popular annual event that features top guitar players, singers, and bands of Eastern Carolina. The event was first presented at Washington’s Union Alley Coffee House and then later moved to the much more spacious Turnage Theatre Gallery Room.
Recent shows have evolved into fund-raising events for needy causes in Eastern Carolina. In 2022 the show raised funds for the Humane Society of Beaufort County’s Spay and Neuter Clinic. In 2020 the event featured Eastern Carolina female guitar players and singers while collecting donations for Washington’s Ruth House. In 2019 it featured musicians from the New Bern area while raising support funds for New Bern area hurricane victims.
This fun-filled family entertainment is sponsored by Beaufort County Traditional Music Association and co-sponsored by Arts of the Pamlico. It is held at the Turnage Theatre, 150 West Main Street, Washington, NC. For more information, please visit WWW.BCTMA.ORG or WWW.ARTSOFTHEPAMLICO.ORG.
