Mr. Bonner Lee Alligood, age 85, a resident of 2896 Slatestone Road, Washington, NC, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2023, at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville NC, with his loving wife, Jo Lee Alligood and daughter, Diane Alligood Stoddard by his side.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, April 14, 2023, in the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory and will be officiated by Marty Alligood. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Tony Alligood, Chip Jones, David Mizelle, Jayson Stoddard, Cole Spain, and Dean Watson. Honorary pallbearer will be Adam H. Mizelle.

Mr. Alligood was born in Beaufort County on November 29, 1937, son of the late Delmar and Mabel Pearl Alligood. He attended Pinetown High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. For his service, he earned several medals including a Purple Heart. He served honorably in the Army, achieving the rank of First Sargeant. He spent several more years in different career paths before dedicating over 25 years as a long-haul truck driver, retiring at the age of 81.

Mr. Alligood is survived by his wife, Jo Lee Alligood; his children: Diane Alligood Stoddard and her husband Howard of Washington, Scott Alligood and his wife Emma, Michael Alligood and his wife Kathy, April Alligood McGill and her husband Tim; his brother: Nolan Alligood and his wife Betty and sister-in-law: Shirley Alligood both of Washington. Thirteen grandchildren: Christian, Sabrina, Keira, Dustin, Austin, Ryan, Brittany, Raielle, Lovette, Jamie, Jenny, Aaron, Kelly; eighteen great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.

Mr. Alligood was preceded in death by two brothers: Delmar Thomas Alligood and Steve Hollis Alligood.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at Mr. Alligood’s home located at 2896 Slatestone Road, Washington, NC.
