Whitecaps find success in early meet

The Washington Whitecaps are a swim team that competes in the Greenville Area Summer Swim League. They are a small team, so they partner with the Minges Makos. The Makos are a team based out of Greenville. Scott Pake is the head coach of the Whitecaps.

They had a meet on Tuesday against the Greenville Parks and Rec Department Yellowfins. This was held at Minges Natatorium in East Carolina. The swimmers from Washington were able to pull in multiple first places at the meet.

Cole Blanks lead the way finishing first in the 9-10 boys 100-yard individual medley, 50-yard freestyle, 50-yard butterfly, and 200-yard freestyle relay. Brayden Capehart and Brandon Ward were also on the winning relay.

Miller Tyson and Wallace Atkins also placed first in multiple events. Tyson won the 13-14 boys 100-yard IM and the 50-yard freestyle. Atkins got first in the 6 and under girls 25-yard freestyle and backstroke and first in the 8 and under girls 25-yard butterfly.

Lucas Blanks, Eliza Lee, Anna Brey Pake, and Wren Tyson also had a first-place finish in the meet.

The next meet will be on June 27 against Aquaventure.
