Recycling services in the City of Washington have been suspended. The city announced the disruption through emails and telephone phone calls to utility customers Thursday evening.

“The City of Washington was recently informed of a change in ownership at our current recycling location,” according to the announcement. “Due to the change in ownership, there will be a temporary disruption in recycling services while the recycling location is temporarily closed. The last day they will be accepting recyclables is this Friday, July 21.”

During the lapse in services, citizens are encouraged to hold their recyclables until service is resumed or throw them into the trash, according to the Public Works Department.

“At the current moment we do not have an estimated date as to when the recycling center will re-open, however we will alert citizens as soon as we have this information.”
