On Friday, July 21, 2023 at approximately 11:41 a.m., Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a person in Bath Creek near a private dock on North Main Street in Bath, NC. Deputies responded and found James Neal Langford, 50 years of age, of North Main Street, Bath deceased in the water. Although the investigation is still active, Deputy’s do not suspect foul play.

Bath Volunteer Fire Department and Broad Creek EMS also responded to the scene to assist.

Langford was a co-owner and pilot of IBX Balloon Flights in Bath. Langford started IBX Balloon Flights in 2018 with co-owner Skip Van Wyk after moving from Albuquerque, New Mexico.
